LIVE AND LEARN
Mistakes are necessary to growth: expect them, forgive them, learn and move on.
Mistakes are necessary to growth: expect them, forgive them, learn and move on.
Your greatest gift is the freedom of choice. No matter who you are, where you are; you can choose at any time to have a different attitude, think differently, eventually do differently and bring into manifestation the results of your choices. This is not taken away when you die because that would mean you no longer have freedom of choice. NT Squared calls it a "God-given" gift, remembering that no matter your definition of God, it's always greater, and more loving than you think. A loving parent wouldn't take away his/her child's freedom to choose -- God loves you much more than that and wants to see you become all that you can be (kind of like the army).
The soul is the repository for growth as you cycle round and round, just like nature. And, like nature, you're always evolving; just on an individual basis. You have probably felt deep down a greatness within you, and you have been endowed with the capacity for self-determination, but, it is within the paramaters of "fate," meaning, that you MUST evolve -- this is what you were designed to do, therefore, the sooner you get to it, the happier you'll be. Everything in life is not secondary to your spiritual growth, but is FOR your spiritual growth, solely (pardon the pun, please). We cannot make something important that is not, but, when we try to, this is where discontent is born.
You are forever, and will forever be growing (unless you so radically screw up that you decide to opt out -- again, freedom of choice). Knowing this you would think, well, I can just take my time, and who cares, right? Actually, when we know that we are the major factor in our own destiny, we would want to improve it right away: for a moment thrown away is lost, and though we can choose to start again, our regrets are usually what we DIDN'T do. The universal phrase of wisdom born of experience and ever elusive to the bravado of youth is, "If I knew then, what I know now I would have..." Have you smartened up, yet? Great. Then get cracking.
Soul and personality are not the same. Personality is another tool we use for growth. It is the merging of our soul's understanding with the universal Spirit (that greater God spoken of earlier) that brings wholeness, no matter how fleeting. That "white light," seen and reported of upon death, is the true reality. (Think of Steve Jobs's last words: "Oh, wow. Oh, wow. Oh, wow." It's doubtful any man-made creation could ever elicit a response like that.) We tend to exist only in the vapors of that rich unseen world, the fabric of life that is also our grounding force; the existence within us that knows all is well with the world, though we may not believe it.
Visit that reality more often and you will see it is so. You will have peace and you will be fulfilling your soul's purpose which is 2-fold. 1.) To Grow and master life, and 2.) To contribute to humanity in your own unique and special way.
Mostly we must learn to forgive and trust. How we handle mistakes, either from ourselves or others is a good indication of where we are along our microcosmic scale of evolution. You wanna grow? You gotta learn to let go with love.
Mistakes are not good or bad, they are part of the process of mastering some aspect of who you are and life itself. If you were to learn a new piano piece and you played a chord incorrectly, you would have to take the time to correct it. Perhaps you would memorize the chord, play it again and again until ingrained into muscle memory, and then do it correctly automatically from repetition. Even better is when we understand why that particular chord is right and then it becomes a part of our thinking -- we've added to our flexible working knowledge through deeper comprehension -- and then there's no need for memorization. We just get it and can apply it when needed. Next.

GIDDYUP!
Feng Shui for the Brain in 2014
By Karen Abler Carrasco
There might not be a bigger shift of energies in the entire 60 year wheel of Chinese astrology than this one coming up–the shift from two Water years of deep introspection to the fast-paced spurt of extroverted forward propulsion that the Wood Horse brings. Hold on to your hats, folks, and realize that you won’t be able to, nor will you want to, slow your horses in the New Year ahead!
This will be a promethean year, the Beginning of all beginnings, arriving around January 31st to February 4th, 2014. Full of uplift, optimism and compelling inspiration, we will be guided into purposeful action of the most elegantly simple and powerfully fruitful kind. After two years of feeling every revelation of corruption in the dark as if it was scouring our subconscious insides and wringing us dry of watery emotion, we are READY for this change! Light, hope and clarity of vision gallop in. Emerge from your cocoons, everybody, here we goooooo!
Because this will be such a big change of energetic experience for us, it will help to review here how the cycle of the sacred Five Elements, or Phases, have set us up for this shift. In that cycle, Wood feeds Fire, Fire’s ash creates Earth, Earth’s compression reveals gems of Metal, and Metal collects and holds Water, which nourishes the Wood to start the cycle all over again. The natural laws of these five elements are actually working in multiple ways throughout Nature, our bodies, our psychologies and the energetic movements of all things here on this planet. In these movements, there are cycles within cycles, one of which is the cycle of birth, growth, disintegration and death, or the void that comes after old life and before new life.
We have just been traveling through that void, in two Water years, which immersed us in a descending place of degeneration, dissolution and chaos, a time when our internal world of formless spirit and emotions held total sway over every attempt at external control or order. For most of us, it was an unsettling time of letting go of many things, either voluntarily or forcefully, a time of deep soul searching, with gradual or sudden destabilization in many areas of family and livelihood. There was a profound search for a return to a spiritual basis for daily living. This all had the effect of highlighting an individual’s isolation and powerlessness within a seemingly random and careless society. Not that outright rebellion and outcry didn’t happen, globally as well as internally. The 2012 Yang Water Dragon year saw to that, with its critical promptings of social responsibility and heroism, and this Yin Water Snake year that followed delved even deeper into the most hidden caves of stagnant dysfunctionality and corruption on all levels.
The good and great news is that we have completed 5 years of the degenerative part of the cycles–that of the harvested, decomposing Earth, compressing and eliminative Metal, and dissolving, settling out, cleansing Water. We now emerge into the generative cycles–powerful, bursting buds of Wood’s new growth fueling the joyful outreach and passions of Fire and the beginnings of Earth’s fruitful harvests.
So, that’s the Wood part of what’s coming. Now to turn our gaze to the animal symbol of Horse. This sprouting upward rush of Wood energy will find its perfect release into the impulsive and passionate nature of the Yang Horse, whose native element is Fire. The Horse energy inspires powerful INTUITION and an indomitable surge towards freedom in every aspect of life. This is a year to follow your inner voice like never before, for it will have a universal cosmic ch’i within it. Higher guidance is with us every step of the way. Reach for the sky, call up your vision, fuel your plans with vision boards and creativity, find a fresh path and pace yourself well. This yang Horse year has the potential to channel the powerful new upthrust of Wood’s Ch’i through the Horse’s Heart energy of Fire and into every project we start, every desire we reach for. It will keep our eager plans from being dominated by too much “head” and not enough “heart.”
It may be quite challenging to trust that we have this absolutely new, purified and hopeful energy to build on now. Our hearts have had to endure a gauntlet of deconstruction through two Metal and two Water years, but the fiery Horse is about to change all of that. Within the extroverted “Green Horse” year, we will not only branch out with new growth, but we will be able to stoke the Fire element of love in every area of life. Follow your intuition fearlessly, as it is both the horse’s main attribute which preserves its freedom and powerful health and it is Wood’s primary talent for stretching into the unknown future. Reach out with irrepressible faith to a new level of social communion and mutual support. Trust every impulse to embrace a revitalized and renewed sensitivity for the pleasures this earthly dimension has to offer.
Step up and out of any old clutter, stored memories, should-have-dones or regrets. The time to deal with that is over for now. Untangle your thoughts quickly and get clear on what it is that you truly desire in this lifetime. Your trusty steed is here, full of vibrant health and tremendous stamina. It should be quite a fast ride, so grab a fistful of mane, hang on to the reins, cast your old cares to the wind and let out a whoop of delight–Yeeehaaw! Upward and onward we thrive! May we all be blest abundantly as we hold each other closer in the circle of health and new life the Wood Horse year brings.

VAMPIRES:
They really suck.
Psychic vampires live among us and are all too real. These are the people who emotionally, mentally, spiritually drain you and leave you exhausted and tired. They can never get enough attention, sympathy, etc. (enough of anything) which is why they're so draining. They are like black holes: they suck everything in and there's still nothing but darkness.
If you're in a relationship with a psychic vampire it would behoove you to acknowledge that they're unable to accept a lot of good (if any) or reflect that light back out into the world. Therefore, it's best to mete out how much you're willing to give of yourself. A good person will want to help these people because they're so desperately in need of it, but, if it's to the point where it diminishes your strength and life, then it serves no one. Don't give up on people, but, don't give up your life's blood so easily, either. |

Man vs. Himself
Is there then a distinction between the neurotic and the average mind which is conceptually sharp even if reality has many transitions?
The difference between the neurotic and the healthy (although potentially neurotic) personality is the following: the neurotic personality, on the basis of his greater sensitivity to nonbeing and consequently of his profounder anxiety, has settled down to a fixed, though limited and unrealistic, self-affirmation. This is, so to speak, the castle to which he has retired and which he defends with all means of psychological resistance against attack, be it from the side of reality or from the side of the analyst. And this resistance is not without some instinctive wisdom. The neurotic is aware of the danger of a situation in which his unrealistic self-affirmation is broken down and no realistic self-affirmation takes its place. The danger is either that he will fall back into another and much better defended neurosis or that with the breakdown of his limited self-affirmation he will fall into an unlimited despair.
The situation is different in the case of the normal self-affirmation of the average personality. That also is fragmentary. The average person keeps himself away from the extreme situations by dealing courageously with concrete objects of fear. He usually is not aware of nonbeing and anxiety in depth of his personality. But his fragmentary self-affirmation is not fixed and defended against an overwhelming threat of anxiety. He is adjusted to reality in many more directions than the neurotic. He is superior in extensity, but he is lacking in the intensity which can make the neurotic creative. His anxiety does not drive him to the construction of imaginary worlds. He affirms himself in unity with those parts of reality which permanently penetrates the castle of his defense and the imaginary world behind it. His limited and fixed self-affirmation both preserves him from an intolerable impact of anxiety and destroys him by turning him against reality and reality against him, and by producing another intolerable attack of anxiety. Pathological anxiety, in spite of its creative potentialities, is illness and danger and must be healed by being taken into a courage to be which is extensive as well as intensive.
