SUndae sunday: a great place to start.
A little more like love = a lot more happy.
Sing it, Ben Rector. A beautiful meaning/message/song for you to play while you read Tyan taking it beyond Sunday and getting all holier-than-thou with the holier-than-though crowd below.

Sunday, kind of, Spirituality
by tyan & emperor peapaw
I am amazed when I run across individuals who think God is a nice idea for Sundays, but wholly impractical for the rest of the week! I am being too kind, I think, of their assessment: Too many people are uncertain about God but think they need to put on a big show, just in case, pulling out a pious face when deemed appropriate, conveniently quoting the Bible, or some sententious patter (or mystical blather!) for whatever purposes they think a "Sunday kind of God" serves. Time to be honest with ourselves and quit faking -- no God you can bribe is worth worshipping.
I am not interested in Spirituality that gets me through on Sunday: I am too selfish for that. I want an effective hard-hitting useful and truthful in-your-face spirituality to help me rake through the down-and-dirty-muck of life EVERY MOMENT OF EVERYDAY. I will settle for no less and neither should you. But, getting to the heart of anything, especially human beings, is no easy feat and can never be realized by the indolence that would rather have its way than find its way: It's only when we do the work that we ever find our way home.
Sincerity has more ineffable power than all the words of preening peacocking preachers of all faiths and stripes without it (even if you could string those infernal utterances together and cast that lengthy line -- surely reaching the outer regions of the cosmos -- it would never catch anything close to truth). YOU, however, have within you, a magical element transforming your life every time you invoke, cultivate, or show it. Sincerity placed in the fertile soil of the universe in which you reside indelibly and intrinsically alters your manifestation of good into more and better and your experience of life is profoundly improved.
Beware dismissing sincerity or, worse, sublimating it, for it's underlying power builds like an earthquake or volcano ready to bring to dust mountains; pride and paradigms; prejudices, dynasties and nations whose permanence once seemed unquestioned. What you stand FOR is much harder but gives you legs with which to move forward, while, being stuck in what you're AGAINST leaves you in sinking shifting sands of frustration which, having no release, resorts to destruction. Where logic ends violence begins. "I" before "we" will surely bring the world to its knees sooner or later, but it will come soon enough. Will you be ready when it does?
What more needs to happen before you drop the charade and take your spiritual life seriously? When a crisis comes a patched together ad hoc version of things cannot possibly see you through. If you aspire to a strong solid functioning inner realm you must start now. Audacity under divine auspices means standing for higher principles and sticking to them when fear and doubt would have you abandon them. You don't have to proselytize or shout it out, but, you do have to live it to get results. (Note: positive results are not always pleasant ones, luckily, it's not your place to judge but to trust all is working for the highest and best good. And so it is!)
Your sincerity is between you and the greater God, the real God, Spirit: its effectiveness swift and apparent. Try and see. Sincerity is powerful when enacted from the heart freely, spontaneously, and without strings! Remember, where you place your time, effort, and money is where you get your return. How much do you really devote to your spirituality? Prescribed answers are not enough... You must become a pioneer traversing the terrain of wonder within where vistas of peace of mind are the view, where lush forests of happiness replenish your breath and being, and oceans of satisfaction await to wash over you.
Maybe a Sunday-sort-of-all-for-show-sanctimony is enough for you... Maybe you're a cynic or too blase to be bothered... Maybe you think everyone around you looks like they know what they're doing, so, you'll just behave as they do without questioning whether it's working for you. Maybe (worst of all) you lack the nerve to commit to being the divine spiritual exponent you know you are deep down so instead of standing by it you belittle yourself or others forsaking the dynamic powerful example you're meant to be... Fine. We'll all be waiting. Meanwhile, I'll take the kind of spirituality that sees me through Sunday, the rest of my days, and beyond -- starting now.
