Corey Lee, head chef at one of America's best restaurants, reminds us:
1. Find both yourself and meaning in your work.
2. Perfect is not important, but, do you feel good about and believe in what you're doing?
3. Be in love with your craft because success may not happen and fame is the by-product of doing something well.
FORGET YOURSELF & FIND YOURSELF.
The documentary, Underwater Dreams, recounts how a robotics team from an underfunded gang-ridden high school in Phoenix (comprised of undocumented children of illegal immigrants) went on to defeat mighty MIT at a prestigious collegiate marine robotics competition in 2004.
In the film the former Carl Hayden students and MIT grads gather to comment on the now legendary upset, as well as share stories of their current lives. Predictably, the MIT graduates went on to employment in their respective engineering fields, while the Carl Hayden alum have fought the hard battle that comes with being undocumented in America.
It may seem to some upon viewing that class distinction will always dictate a person’s fate, that even in America it’s impossible to transcend, but something deeper occurred beyond personal struggle: These once-high school victors remain champions creating a powerful legacy for students not just to dream or hope, but to achieve and succeed.
An entire group taught they have little value, who struggle with being strangers in their own land (being brought here not of their own choice and knowing no other home) now have a different path to choose, indelibly and forever scorched into real possibility by the trail-blazing triumph of this 2004 team and their robot nicknamed, "Stinky."

It all started with one man: Faridodin “Fredi” Lajvardi who, though born of privilege, made the decision to begin working at a high school in a metro area riddled with gangs and, maybe not so bizarrely, thought the kids might get a kick out of an after-school robotics club.
He is mentor, surrogate father, and much needed friend to kids who dare to succeed because they know they’ve got an adult who genuinely cares about them. Students who would’ve never considered engineering are regularly entering the field and other STEM disciplines with bold vision and competency due to his support and stewardship.
Through it all, Fredi is deeply humble, proudly behind the scenes happily giving his students the spotlight. He and his winning team, even more miraculously than defeating MIT, forged a culture of success producing consistent results as few have been able to do anywhere... anytime. Fredi, through his love, encouragement, and example gives the greatest gift imaginable: he teaches students to be unafraid of their own minds.

You have something special to offer this world. Take Fredi's example, do it out of love, and watch the impact you make!
"AS WE TRAVEL ON, LOVE'S WHAT WE'LL REMEMBER."
In spite of appearances, love prevails! hold fast, steadily & powerfully, to this truth & beauty will be made manifest in the world you see...
