On rare occasions, a personal correspondence sent from advice on a
prayer request will be used on a Temple of New Thought page when it may
help others. This is one of those occasions.
A response to an e-mail we received on overcoming the trap of materialism.*
"Yes, I meant that spiritual dissatisfaction is divine: it's the inner thirst, the need to be one with the Spirit, to express one's divine nature as the main driving force of existence.
The other, that of materialism and ego domination, were absolutely handed down to you. If you will recall, you weren't like that when you were younger. The reason I mention this is when we heal, we have to literally clean the entire mess and start afresh from the being we were before we were cluttered with nonsense and preoccupied with things that truly weren't important to us; when we were a more open and receptive channel to Spirit.
This is why childhood is a salient focus when assessing spirituality: It's because that time is when we were still fresh, not yet jaded, and still believed in wonder and possibility as a very real everyday-life-paradigm.
We're so much luckier, though, as adults b/c we figure out how to recreate it and then it's OURS, and never lost to us again, because we've earned the right to live thusly: we have the knowledge and the KNOW-HOW to make it happen. We also value it and will work much harder to protect it ensuring it thrives as it is the mainstay of our happiness...
...Knowledge is power, but know-how is mastery."
God Bless You!
